"MOHAWK" as he was better known as, was born on May 14,1948 in Trousdale County to the late James Walter Sr. and Mattie L. Harper. He professed hope in Christ while being at Hartsville Original Church of God, where he was a faithful member till The Lord called him home.

James was preceded in death by his brother George Harper. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife: Jane D. Harper of Hartsville,TN. Two devoted children: Qunitina Harper of Hartsville,TN, and son, Thaddeus(Holly) Harper of Murfreesboro, TN. Four Grandchildren, One great grandchild, 2 sisters and a number of devoted family, and friends.
